Job summary

Plumb Centre in Basingstoke is hiring a Sales Assistant to help trade customers at the counter, advise on plumbing and heating products and build repeat business.

You'll respond to phone and email inquiries, make outbound calls to previous customers, and handle stock and packing duties in a busy branch. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 07:00–17:00 with Saturday mornings on a rota; salary is £26,695 plus bonus and benefits.

Qualifications

• Face-to-face sales and customer service experience required.
• Willingness to lift heavy items and assist in all areas.
• Plumbing & heating knowledge is ideal.
• Warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serving customers on the trade counter by understanding their needs and recommending products.

• Making outbound calls to previous customers to regain business.
• Pursuing opportunities to drive sales within the branch.

Responsibilities:

• Serving customers on the trade counter by understanding their specific needs and providing advice and product recommendations
• Responding to customer enquiries via phone & email promptly and courteously, with a proactive attitude
• Making outbound phone calls to previous customers to regain their business
• Actively identifying and pursuing opportunities to drive sales within the branch, engaging both new and existing customers
• General warehouse duties including booking incoming stock onto the system and putting it away and picking and packing customer orders which will involve manual handling heavy stock e.g. boilers, radiators, sinks and toilets

Contract:

This is a full time time permanent role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 07.00am - 5.00pm and Saturday mornings on a rota basis 08.00am - 12.00pm.

Requirements:

• Plumbing & Heating knowledge is ideal
• Previous Face to Face sales and customer service experience is essential
• Warehouse experience
• To be a team player who is happy to assist in all areas to ensure the smooth running of the branch
• Eagerness to learn, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude and a strong work ethic
• To be comfortable lifting heavy items
