Sales Account Manager Construction – UK
Job location: United Kingdom (remote) with availability to travel for business up to 80% of working hours (4 days per week)
Job Description
The Sales Account Manager, reporting to the respective regional Manager of Topcon, is responsible for executing Topcon\'s sales business in the area of responsibility to achieve its goals. The role leads our distribution sales efforts in the area of responsibility as well as our dealers. The jobholder will be responsible for managing relationships with direct customers and distribution partners, developing and implementing sales strategies, driving revenue growth, and ensuring products are effectively distributed in the market.
Core duties
- Responsible for sales revenues in collaboration with Sales Management.
- Work effectively in a collaborative team environment; detail oriented, quality focused, comfortable in a high energy, flexible, dynamic and fast-moving business.
- Direct sales of our products and managing relationships with distribution partners, including regular communication and training to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Support existing customers and establish new customers to ensure their success in promoting and selling our products.
- Become the primary technical contact point and sales support for our dealers, operating in increasing autonomy; consult with customers in all technical matters including support on project coordination.
- Develop the technical expertise of distribution partners on Topcon hardware and software products; assist dealers’ sales force in presentations to end customers; carry out tests and checks of hardware and software as needed; assist remote technical service.
- Analyze customer base and actively seek upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
- Prepare offers including calculations and independent contract negotiations and contract conclusion.
- Collaborate with marketing and product development teams to develop sales materials, presentations, and proposals.
- Execute customer events, presentations, demos and trainings; participate in trade fairs and road shows.
- Market observation regarding products, competition and trends; identify new sales opportunities, lead generation, prospecting, sales calls, and closing deals.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the sales process in own area of responsibility to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing sales activities.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Degree in Civil/Building/Electronic Engineering and/or diploma of Surveyor/Electronic Expert/Engineering background with practical knowledge
- 5+ years\' experience in business development, sales or account management within the construction or heavy equipment industry (machine control, survey, civil engineering, plant or OEM supply chain preferred)
- Proven success in developing new markets or territories, building partner networks, and achieving measurable sales growth
- Demonstrated experience working with OEMs, distributors or rental partners, ideally within a technical product or solution environment
- Track record of managing complex B2B sales cycles, including prospecting, negotiation and closing
- Solid understanding of construction site operations and technology adoption challenges (data workflows, machine productivity, automation)
- B Driving License
- Knowledge of the English language at a conversational level

- Well-developed listening skills and a strong ability to engage at a variety of levels

- Advanced skills in putting clear strategy on paper (e.g., by using PowerPoint)
- Good leadership skills
- Preferential qualifications include technical knowledge of construction site processes and machines; topography processes
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment; manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work in a team environment that promotes collaboration
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software
- Ability to travel within the assigned region up to 80% of working time
