A leading UK manufacturer is seeking a Safety, Health & Environment Coordinator to champion a culture of safety and environmental excellence. The role will oversee compliance and promote continuous improvement within the organization. Applicants should hold a NEBOSH qualification and have experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment. This full-time role offers a salary of £35,000 per annum along with 33 days holiday and various benefits.

Overview

The Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Coordinator will champion a culture of safety and environmental excellence across Soapworks operations as the business scales. The role focuses on safety, health, wellbeing, and environmental compliance, supporting and inspiring a proactive team to achieve high performance and responsible growth. Location: Glasgow / Remote Working Fridays. Salary: £35,000 per annum + 33 days holiday, rising with service. Full-time, permanent. Benefits include pension, income protection, access to EAP, GP and physio services, Death in Service 3x annual salary, and additional benefits. Reporting to: Operations Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure SHE compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote a strong SHE culture across all levels.
  • Develop and support SHE skills among managers, supervisors, and staff.
  • Oversee risk assessments, safety inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Manage health & safety policies, procedures, records, and compliance with ISO 14001, 45001, and client standards.
  • Lead Health & Safety Committee meetings and ensure timely completion of action points.
  • Monitor and communicate legislative updates and SHE performance KPIs.
  • Maintain environmental compliance documentation and reporting.
  • Ensure personal and organizational adherence to health, safety, and environmental procedures.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge
  • Experience of working within a manufacturing/FMCG environment, ideally within an SME.
  • Good knowledge of environmental practices and compliance within a manufacturing/FMCG environment.
  • Experience in ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 internal audit practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Experience in developing and delivering engaging SHE presentations including induction training and toolbox talks.
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools and techniques is advantageous.
Aptitudes & Attributes
  • Problem solving, initiative, self-starter, and ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Clear and engaging written and verbal communication; attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and maintain good relationships with management, workers, and visitors.
  • Demonstrated leadership in SHE, critical thinking, and integrity.
Other job requirements
  • Clean driving license is ideal but not essential.
