Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for dynamic and visionary 3rd year student Midwives, newly qualified and experienced midwives to join the established team of midwives at Mid Cheshire Hospitals Foundation Trust.

The post holder will be employed as a rotational midwife and work throughout all clinical areas of maternity services. Rotations through inpatient areas will include labour ward, maternity theatres, induction of labour and maternity triage, midwifery led unit and maternity inpatient ward. There will also be an opportunity to rotate to the Maternity Outpatients Department and Community Midwifery team.

The Trust provides good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and beyond. It manages Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, and employs almost 5,000 staff with around 540 hospital beds.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high quality, effective midwifery care on a day-to-day basis within all areas of the maternity unit, including antenatal care, labour, and postnatal care.
  • Work as part of a team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised, holistic care to meet women’s and families’ needs.
  • Demonstrate decision-making autonomy within guidelines and professional codes of practice; participate in leadership, education, development and supervision of the clinical team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver evidence-based care and contribute to service development.
  • Newly qualified midwives will be supported through a 12 month preceptorship programme with dedicated study/training time each month.

  • Experience in all aspects of midwifery care, with ability to support women in antenatal care, during labour, and postnatally.
  • Flexibility, innovation and resourcefulness; excellent organisational skills; and a strong team player with high personal standards of care.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work across multiple maternity areas and departments.
