Job summary

The RAC is hiring a Roadside Technician to diagnose faults, perform roadside repairs and deliver rapid breakdown support across the UK. You’ll work in the Chelmsford cluster and cover nearby areas, starting from home and focusing on local member recovery.

The role offers a strong base salary of £36,400 with a realistic OTE of £61,000, and a structured development pathway including IMI accreditation, with opportunities for overtime and career progression.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• Or 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert mechanical roadside repair and diagnostics.
• Deliver emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Diagnose faults and solve problems to get members back on the road.
• Work independently and make decisions to help members travel safely.
