Job summary

The RAC is seeking a Roadside Technician to service customers across the UK, with duties including roadside repairs, diagnostics and emergency breakdown support. You’ll start and finish from home, with local deployments within the Chelmsford cluster region and surrounding areas.

You’ll be supported by a structured development pathway, can pursue IMI accreditation, and benefit from a strong base salary (£36,400) with realistic OTE (£61,000). Overtime and bonuses enhance earnings over time.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent is required with 2+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic is acceptable in lieu of the NVQ.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points is required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Diagnose faults, perform repairs on-site and get members back on the road quickly and safely.
• Work independently, making quick, accurate decisions and providing reassuring service to RAC members.
