Worth Recruiting is hunting for an experienced and technically capable RICS Building Surveyor for a modern property construction firm based in North Surrey to provide expert technical guidance across residential and commercial projects and insurance claims.

Our client is seeking a qualified RICS Building Surveyor (although they may consider a candidate who has significant industry experience but who is not RICS qualified) to act as the technical lead providing practical and accurate advice on construction details defects and compliance.

The ideal candidate will combine technical excellence with strong communication and problem-solving skills to support surveyors, project managers and loss adjusters on a variety of projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional who enjoys hands‑on technical work, mentoring others and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standard.

What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities):>

• Provide expert technical advice on construction details, building defects and repair methods.
• Conduct detailed inspections and surveys, diagnosing issues and specifying remedial works.
• Review technical drawings, specifications and contractor proposals for compliance and accuracy.
• Prepare professional reports, schedules and advice notes for clients and internal teams.
• Support pricing and project planning by advising on scope, materials and methodology.
• Conduct periodic site inspections to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
• Stay informed on evolving building regulations, best practices and new technologies.
• Mentor and support junior surveyors, contributing to the team’s overall technical expertise.

What We’re Looking For (Skills & Experience):

• Degree in Building Surveying, Construction or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of building pathology, defects and construction techniques.
• Experience diagnosing defects and providing practical solutions.
• Ability to interpret and prepare technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, surveying software and Microsoft Office.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Chartered (MRICS) or working towards chartership desirable.
• Experience in insurance‑related surveying, mentoring or JCT contracts beneficial.
