Job summary

Boots is seeking an Assistant Manager in our Stockport store to lead a team, provide great care to customers and patients, and balance people, performance and operations every day.

You will coach, develop and organise the team, manage day-to-day store operations, and ensure compliance and high standards. This hands-on role places you at the heart of delivering excellent customer care and strong commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a team in a customer-facing environment.
• Proven ability to take ownership of performance and drive results.
• Inspire and coach others, and manage performance.
• Strong organisational skills including rota planning and workload prioritisation.
• Clear understanding of compliance, safety and operational standards.
• Collaborative personality able to work in a team-centred environment.
• Confident using systems, reports and data to make decisions.
• Passionate about delivering excellent customer care and commercial outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead your team to deliver strong performance while providing great care to customers and patients.
• Create a positive, supportive team environment where people feel confident and motivated.
• Coach, develop and line manage your team with regular feedback and clear goals.
• Be responsible for day-to-day store operations including planning, scheduling and workload.
• Maintain high store standards—clean, safe and easy to shop.
• Take ownership of stock availability, cost control and loss prevention.
• Ensure store is safe, legal and compliant by completing audits and risk assessments.
• Use data and insights to identify opportunities and take action.
• Lead the store confidently in the absence of the Store Leader.
