Job summary

Marks & Spencer in Exeter area is seeking a Security Officer to create a safe, welcoming and secure environment for customers and colleagues. You’ll stay calm under pressure, lead with professionalism and protect people, stores and products.

Travel to Exeter, Plymouth, Torbay and Exmouth is required. A valid SIA licence is desirable, and you will use store technology to support operations and incident management. Salary £16.20 per hour.

Qualifications

• Previous security experience is preferred.
• A valid SIA licence is desirable, although not essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, confident and professional approach.
• A proactive mindset with the ability to make sound decisions quickly.
• A genuine passion for customer service and keeping people safe.
• All candidates must be able to provide a 5-year checkable work history within the UK.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence in store and assist customers and colleagues.
• Prevent loss, respond to incidents and identify risks to support safe store operations.
• Use store technology (mobile reporting, body-worn cameras) to support incident management.
• Stay calm under pressure and act professionally in challenging situations.
• Work closely with store colleagues to maintain high standards and a positive environment.
