Job summary

NAES United Kingdom is seeking an Electrical Support Engineer to ensure safe and reliable operation of our power-generation assets. You will provide fleet-wide HV/LV electrical expertise, investigate faults, and drive maintenance strategies across seven sites.

The role is home-based with extensive UK travel, Nottingham as a base for Derby, Peterborough, Thornhill and Heartlands facilities, supporting plant availability and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
• Experience in power generation or heavy industry preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems (switchgear, generators, transformers).
• Practical fault diagnosis, root cause analysis and reliability improvement experience.
• Experience managing electrical projects, outages and contractors.
• Understanding UK electrical safety requirements and isolation procedures.
• Familiarity with CMMS and maintenance planning is desirable.
• Willingness to travel across the UK with a full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide fleet-wide HV/LV electrical support to ensure safe, compliant operation.
• Investigate faults and protection system issues to identify root causes.
• Perform HV/LV switching, isolation, inspection and testing where trained.
• Coordinate electrical activities during outages to minimise downtime.
• Develop preventive and condition-based maintenance strategies for the fleet.
• Assess electrical modifications and engineering designs for regulatory compliance.
• Manage projects, budgeting, scheduling, and quality assurance for contractors.
• Maintain fleet electrical asset registers and critical spares requirements.
• Collaborate with Operations and stakeholders to plan electrical work and budgets.
• Contribute to long-term fleet engineering strategies for reliability and lifecycle costs.
• Support electrical, control and instrumentation activities with safety focus.
