Job summary

IC24 is recruiting a Clinical Advisor to deliver NHS 111 telephone triage on a remote basis as part of its out-of-hours urgent care service. The post involves assessing callers by phone, using NHS Pathways and clinical judgement to provide safe advice and direct patients to appropriate services.

Shifts cover a 24/7 rota; hybrid working may follow after six months in post. Applicants must be Registered Adult Nurses or Paramedics with at least two years post-registration experience, and NHS

Qualifications

• Registered Adult Nurse or Paramedic with current registration in the UK.
• NHS Pathways trained, or commit to eight weeks of full-time training.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients by phone for physical health conditions, injuries, mental health concerns and safeguarding issues using NHS Pathways and clinical judgement.
• Give evidence-based self-care advice, safety-netting and onward referrals.
• Assess risk and make timely, informed clinical decisions within scope of practice.
• Manage complex, sensitive and emotionally challenging conversations.
• Give clinical guidance to Health Advisors on escalated or complex calls.
• Work with colleagues across the wider urgent care system to support patient pathways and continuity of care.
• Keep clinical knowledge current through training, supervision, competency assessments and CPD.
• Recognise safeguarding concerns and contribute to service improvements.
