A regional council in the UK is seeking a Relief Pier Master to support Marine Services and Transportation. The role involves assisting with vessel berthing and ensuring compliance with Harbour Byelaws. Applicants must have a forklift truck operators' licence and a Restricted VHF Radio certificate, along with the ability to travel between locations in Orkney. The position offers £16.56 per hour with shifts as required, and Level 1 Disclosure Scotland Clearance is necessary.

Hours are offered on an as and when required basis
£16.56 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate
Applications are invited for the above relief position working within Marine Services and Transportation.
The Pier Master will participate in OIC Marine Services' Safety Management System in accordance with the Port Marine Safety Code and associated plans referenced to in the Safety Management System policy document.
The Pier Master’s duties will include instructing vessels where to berth and assisting with the berthing and sailings of vessels to and from the piers. They will also ensure that the Harbour Byelaws are complied with. Additionally, the Pier Master will ensure the harbour premises are kept clean and tidy and will be responsible for completing and forwarding all required documentation to the Harbour Authority at Scapa as and when required.
Applicants must hold a forklift truck operators' licence and Restricted VHF Radio, and be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
This post requires Level 1 Disclosure Scotland Clearance.
