Job summary

Norfolk County Council is seeking a Relief Mobile Library Driver/Assistant to operate from the Whitegates base in Hethersett with possible shifts at Dersingham and East Dereham. The role involves vehicle checks, stocking the vehicle, and following the route timetable to serve the public.

The post requires LGV Class C or C+E licences and a Driver Qualification Card, with a flexible approach to working evenings and late afternoons. GCSEs or equivalent experience are needed.

Qualifications

• Must hold category C driving licence and CPC (Driver Qualification Card).
• Able to work with people and provide a helpful service.
• Basic computer skills and some cash handling experience.
• Flexible approach and able to cover for colleagues.
• Enthusiastic and able to work on own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Check vehicle condition and stock before starting.
• Follow the daily route timetable accurately.
• Serve the public and help customers choose books from the vehicle.
• Assist with information requests and provide good community service.
• Be ready to cover for others and work flexible evenings/late afternoons.
