Job summary

Essex County Council (ECC) invites applications for the Part Time Mobile Library Supervisor role, overseeing a mobile library operation and driving a 12-ton vehicle across Essex on a 3-week rota. The post is fixed term for 6 months with potential extension and requires a current HGV class 2 licence and customer-focused experience.

The role is based in Witham and includes early starts with a flexible schedule; suitability depends on driving duties and attendance at interviews.

Qualifications

• Current HGV class 2 driving licence and able to drive a 12-ton vehicle.
• Experience of driving large vehicles and carrying out routine vehicle checks.
• At least 21 years old (for insurance purposes).
• Demonstrable experience of working in a customer focused environment.
• Future and improvement focused approach with ability to deliver new ways of working.

Responsibilities

• Welcome library users and help deliver a quality service at the base or other locations.
• Undertake stock circulation procedures including issue, discharge, reservations and fines.
• Maintain and clean vehicles and manage delivery/collection of vehicles for maintenance.
• Assist customers with enquiries and use ICT equipment when provided.
• Deliver books and equipment as required and support health and safety obligations.
