Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Part Time Mobile Library Supervisor to manage a mobile library service from a base in Witham and operate across Essex on a 3-week rota. The role involves driving a 12-ton vehicle and supervising library operations, with earnings pro rata to 14.5 hours per week.

The post runs as a fixed-term 6-month contract with potential extension, and requires a current HGV Class 2 licence, strong customer service, and ICT skills.

Qualifications

• Current HGV class 2 driving licence and able to drive a 12-ton vehicle.
• Experience of driving large vehicles and carrying out routine vehicle checks.
• Age 21+ for insurance purposes.
• Demonstrable experience in a customer-focused environment.
• Experience with ICT and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Welcome library users and deliver a quality service at the base or other appropriate library as required.
• Undertake stock circulation procedures and related library operations.
• Drive and supervise the mobile library and maintain vehicles.
• Help customers with enquiries and use ICT equipment where provided.
• Promote and support the outreach program and contribute to service planning.
