Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Part Time Mobile Library Supervisor (HGV Class 2 Driver) to manage a mobile library, drive a 12-ton vehicle, and supervise services across Essex on a 3-week rota. The role is fixed term for 6 months with potential extension.

Based in Witham with duties across villages, the post requires a current HGV Class 2 licence and a focus on excellent customer service within a county-wide library network.

Qualifications

• Current HGV Class 2 driving licence.
• Experience in a customer-focused environment.
• Comfort with ICT equipment and IT package use.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
• Knowledge of Data Protection (GDPR) and FOI legislation.

Responsibilities

• Manage a mobile library including stock movement and customer service.
• Drive and supervise mobile library services across Essex on a 3-week rota.
• Maintain vehicles and carry out routine checks and upkeep.
• Assist in promoting and delivering the library outreach program.
• Provide high-quality customer care and act as first point of contact for the public.
