Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Part Time Mobile Library Supervisor (HGV Class 2 Driver) to manage a mobile library on a 3-week rota across Essex villages. The role is based in Colchester and requires a current HGV Class 2 licence to drive a 12-ton vehicle.

Working 14.5 hours per week, earliest start about 8am and latest finish about 6pm. This is a fixed term/secondment for 6 months with potential extension; visa sponsorship is not available; right to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

• Current HGV Class 2 licence and able to drive a 12-ton vehicle.
• Experience driving large vehicles and carrying out routine vehicle checks.
• At least 21 years old (insurance purposes).
• Demonstrable experience in a customer-focused environment.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures and GDPR/FOI legislation.

Responsibilities

• Welcome library users and help deliver a quality service.
• Carry out stock circulation procedures and related duties.
• Maintain and clean vehicles and arrange maintenance/repairs.
• Assist customers with ICT equipment and provide information.
• Deliver books and equipment as required.
• Promote the service and contribute to statistics and outreach.
