Job description
Registered Midwife – Senior Perinatal Leadership (12‑month contract)

UHCW is seeking an experienced registered midwife to lead the perinatal workforce, antenatal clinic and antenatal screening services for a 12‑month secondment. The role reports to senior leadership and oversees recruitment, retention, workforce data, preceptorship, student support and service improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead workforce recruitment and retention strategy and report workforce data to senior leadership.
  • Oversee the preceptorship programme for newly qualified midwives and support the student support programme.
  • Provide leadership responsibility and accountability for the antenatal clinic and antenatal screening departments, driving innovative service improvement.
  • Act as a visible senior leader, ensuring a physical presence, professional appearance and collaborative working across the multidisciplinary team.
  • Deliver on organisational priorities covering inclusive leadership, governance, patient safety, workforce planning, patient experience, performance, digital transformation, education, research, clinical effectiveness and service transformation.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Registered midwife with statutory registration.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
  • Evidence of inclusive leadership, governance and service improvement experience.
  • Capability to deliver on patient safety, workforce planning, digital and information technology, education, research and clinical effectiveness.
  • Required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from a UK occupational health provider or GP.
  • Secondment will be considered for internal candidates – line‑manager approval required if you are successful.
