Job description

The Building Safety Regulator (BSR) is transforming building safety regulation across England, ensuring that residents are safe and feel safe in their homes.

We are seeking a Building Control Professional to join BSR and help shape the future of building practice in England by providing direct support to our Multi‑Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) to ensure regulatory decisions are technically robust and proportionate.

This post requires detailed knowledge of technical matters but also capacity to work within the broader policy and political context of Government. Candidates will be good communicators, able to present technical issues clearly and succinctly and to represent the BSR with other departments, industry and standards making bodies.

You will be providing specialist advice to MDTs reviewing (and peer reviewing) building control applications, and support regulatory and policy teams interpretation of the Building Regulations.

This role blends high impact policy influence with practical engagement in operational decision‑making. This post requires detailed knowledge of technical matters but also capacity to work within the broader policy and political context of Government. You will work closely with other government departments and provide technical advice to support development of new policy which is both deliverable and technically sound. You will be a good communicator, able to present technical issues clearly and succinctly and represent the BSR with other departments, industry and standards making bodies.
