JOB SUMMARY

Restful Homes Group is a market leading, family-owned care home group operating 9 care homes across Staffordshire, Birmingham, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

We are seeking a skilled Regional Maintenance Person to join our team. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the maintenance team across our 9 sites to ensure facilities are safe, functional and compliant with health and safety regulations and internal policies.

Reporting to the Head of Maintenance/Home Manager, the Peripatetic Maintenance Person will work closely with the homes nominated maintenance man and the Home Manager to support with any maintenance needs. To act as Maintenance person, responding to a variety of requests for repairs and general maintenance of the building and grounds, fixings, fittings and equipment during periods of absences and annual leave.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee the upkeep of maintenance teams across multiple care homes within the region, including all building, mechanical and electrical systems, specialist equipment and its general contents
  • Lead and develop the maintenance teams to support with maintenance needs
  • Oversee both planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance to ensure the safety, functionality and aesthetic standards of all facilities.
  • Oversee the serviceability of all heating, lighting, plumbing and all services and non-medical equipment, including emergency lighting and fire alarms
  • Conducts regular site inspections and audits, identify hazards and ensure all necessary documentation and records are maintained and up to date. Ensuring weekly fire alarm tests and routine checks of wheelchairs, reclining chairs and Nursing beds are being completed.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programmes in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards
  • You will support with training and coaching of our existing teams, as well as induction of new team members and new home openings.
  • Monitor existing teams participation to ensure the training they are being provided is being put into use and to see if any additional training is needed
  • Identify and implement initiatives to improve energy efficiency and support sustainability targets within the care homes.
  • Ensure all maintenance records, including those for planned maintenance, inspections and compliance are accurately kept and stored.
  • Provides an on-call service should emergency works be required out of normal working hours
  • Must be flexible to work in a number of Care Homes to support all maintenance personnel and cover holiday periods.
  • Support Home Managers in relevant areas of health and safety and assist in the recruitment of new maintenance personnel for sites within the region.
  • These duties are not exhaustive. Job holders may be asked to undertake other responsibilities, within their spheres of responsibility and competence
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Skilled capabilities within the building and maintenance industry, preferably within a care home environment (electrical, plumbing and carpentry sections)
  • Hand and power tool operation applicable to trade
  • DIY skills to support the range of maintenance activities
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, including fire procedures, COSHH and expenditures
  • Strong understanding of quality standards and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in using logging systems for maintenance tasks
  • Ability to manage and develop a maintenance team
  • Experience in managing budgets and controlling expenditures
  • Ability to travel regionally to support various care homes within the West Midlands (UK DRIVING LICENCE IS ESSENTIAL)
