Job summary

The Dylan Coastal Resort in Laugharne, Carmarthenshire, is seeking a Reception Supervisor to lead the desk on a day‑to‑day basis. You will run shifts, support and develop the reception team, and ensure every arrival experiences a welcoming check‑in with flawless guest care.

We offer a hands‑on supervisory role with full training, a 40‑hour week, and a fixed rota. You’ll join a tight‑knit team at a beautiful coastal resort with opportunities for progression and a range of staff perks.

Qualifications

• Supervisory or senior reception experience in a hotel, resort or holiday park.
• Calm and organised when multiple tasks demand attention.
• Genuine warmth with guests and a welcoming manner.
• Confident with computers, booking or property management systems, email and spreadsheets.
• Able to handle a complaint effectively rather than pass it along.
• Natural leader who can coordinate a team and maintain fairness.
• Available across a seven‑day rota, including weekends and bank holidays.
• Own transport is helpful given location and shift times.
• A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the desk day-to-day, run the reception shift and keep the desk covered.
• Support, train and develop the reception team; manage rota with manager.
• Greet guests, manage check-in/check-out on busy days and handle enquiries.
• Take bookings, amendments and payments; keep records accurate.
• Coordinate with housekeeping, restaurant, spa and activities teams.
• Cash handling, floats, daily banking and end-of-day reporting.
• Open and close reception and maintain key control.

Reception Supervisor

Full-time, permanent · Immediate start

£13.50 per hour · 40 hours per week · Full-time, permanent

Seven-day rota, including weekends and bank holidays · [Shifts between Xam and Xpm]

First face, first impression, and the person who holds the day together.

Reception is where a guest’s holiday begins, and where it gets put right when something goes wrong. We’re looking for a Reception Supervisor to lead the desk day-to-day — running the shift, looking after the team, and making sure every arrival walks into a lodge that’s ready and a welcome that means it.

It’s a hands-on supervisory role. You’ll be on the desk with your team, not behind a door.

What you’ll be doing

Leading the desk

• Running the reception shift day-to-day and keeping the desk covered
• Supporting, training and developing the reception team
• Building the rota with the Reception Manager and organising cover for holidays and sickness
• Setting the standard for how our guests are looked after

Looking after guests

• Welcoming arrivals and managing check-in and check-out, especially on busy changeover days
• Handling enquiries in person, by phone and by email
• Resolving guest issues and complaints at the first point, and knowing when to escape
• Taking bookings, amendments and payments, and keeping records accurate

Keeping the resort running

• Working closely with housekeeping so lodges are signed off and ready before arrival
• Passing maintenance issues on and chasing them through to fixed
• Liaising with the restaurant, spa and activities teams on guest bookings
• Cash handling, floats, daily banking and end-of-day reporting
• Opening and closing reception, and key control

What we’re looking for

• Supervisory or senior reception experience in a hotel, resort or holiday park — or a strong receptionist ready to step up
• Calm and organised when the queue is out the door and three things need doing at once
• Genuine warmth with guests — the sort of welcome people remember
• Confident with computers — booking or property management systems, email and spreadsheets (full training on our systems given)
• Able to handle a complaint properly rather than pass it along
• A natural with a team; people listen to you because you’re fair, not because of the job title
• Available across a seven-day rota, including weekends and bank holidays
• Own transport is helpful given the location and shift times
