A major utility provider in Greater Manchester is seeking a Realtime Systems Application Engineer to support and develop Electricity Control Systems. The ideal candidate will possess extensive IT support knowledge, along with strong skills in telemetry systems, Powershell scripting, and programming. This role emphasizes collaboration with teams to ensure quality service delivery and technical problem-solving. The successful candidate must, at the start of employment have permission to work in the UK without sponsorship.
As Application Support Engineer you will support and develop the Electricity Control Systems (ECS) by providing technical triaging and second line application support capability for a number of important applications. The successful candidate will ensure the correct priority and severity are assigned and engage with internal stakeholders to eliminate internal issues and re-assign to the appropriate internal team where necessary.
You will, in conjunction with the team lead, manage any incidents that have been re-assigned to external third parties following technical triaging to ensure service levels are being met.
You will work closely with peers including the Real Time Systems Support team and Service Management to leverage necessary skills and that best practice and processes are adhered to.
You will also ensure acceptable workarounds are in place and permanent solutions are defined and delivered to meet service levels and deliver agreed minor changes which may fall under the team remit.
This is a professional role requiring integrity and commitment, together with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
