A leading environmental services company is seeking a passionate shop operative for their re-use shop in Altrincham, England. The role involves daily operations, stock management, and engagement with customers to promote recycling and excellent service. Candidates should have retail experience and be enthusiastic about sustainability. This position offers a chance to contribute to social projects while providing a supportive environment for personal growth.
Through our waste contract with Greater Manchester Combined Authority, SUEZ has made a commitment to set up re‑use shops on our Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC's) to resell donated items and generate £300,000 annually to be reinvested in social projects in Greater Manchester.
As a shop operative you will be in charge of the daily running of our re‑use shop, based at Woodhouse Lane HWRC, liaising with the re‑use hub manager to make sure the shop is fully stocked and that everything is properly stored or made ready for sale.
This will involve you:
You’ll be expected to promote the values of the shop and the charitable nature of the re‑use scheme in Greater Manchester, at the same time as providing excellent customer experience to encourage repeat custom and the smooth and profitable running of the shop.
You will be passionate about the environment and in particular this re‑use project, with prior retail experience and a real enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service.
Either you will have knowledge of recycling and upcycling, or be willing to rapidly develop it, but you should have an understanding of maintaining stock, merchandising and the ability to handle financial aspects of retail, along with:
