Job summary

A leading main contractor in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Project Manager to deliver a major infrastructure programme. This role focuses on civils and external works within a rail environment, requiring expertise in listed building refurbishment. Responsibilities include managing design completion, stakeholder communication, and delivering projects to high standards of safety and quality. The ideal candidate must possess strong organisational skills and relevant experience in managing complex civils works, with suitable qualifications in engineering or a related discipline.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in a numerate or engineering discipline (HNC/HND acceptable with significant experience).
• Strong IT capability, including BIM, AutoCAD, and collaborative platforms.
• Proven experience delivering complex civils works within station or transport infrastructure environments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver listed building refurbishment and associated civils works from design through to implementation.
• Manage planning and execution of possession-based works within live rail or transport environments.
• Provide detailed progress, cost, forecast, and risk reporting to senior project stakeholders.
• Coordinate construction, design, procurement, and commercial teams.
• Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and best practice.

Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation

Commercially astute

Proven experience delivering civils and external works packages

Experience with listed building consents and heritage environments

NEC contract experience

Strong organisational, leadership, and team-building skills

Education

Degree qualified in a numerate or engineering discipline

Membership of a relevant professional body preferred

Valid CSCS card and Safety for Senior Managers training
