The Role

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to join their growing manufacturing team. Our client is a leading contract manufacturer within the food manufacturing industry, committed to delivering safe, high-quality products that meet rigorous regulatory standards. This role is essential in ensuring full compliance from raw material intake through to finished goods release. Working closely across Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA), you will help maintain product integrity, oversee testing and inspections, and ensure manufacturing processes meet GMP, ISO, Organic, and BRC requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Inspection
  • Collect and prepare samples of raw materials, packaging components, and finished goods for physical, chemical, and microbiological testing (in-house and external labs).
  • Conduct AQL inspections of finished products, including weight checks, label verification, and sealing integrity assessments.
  • Approve or reject materials based on specification requirements and manage hold, quarantine, and release procedures.
Process Checks & Quality Assurance
  • Carry out in-process audits across weigh-up, blending, encapsulation, polishing, and packaging to ensure full compliance with SOPs and Batch Production Records (BPRs).
  • Review BPRs, equipment logs, and cleaning logs to confirm accuracy, completeness, and GMP compliance.
  • Support environmental monitoring activities such as swabbing, temperature recording, and humidity checks.
  • Assist in documenting deviations and non-conformance reports (NCRs) and participate in early-stage investigations.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and traceable QC records for all testing, inspections, and process checks.
  • Ensure full adherence to SOPs, safety policies, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Monitor and verify calibration status of in-house laboratory equipment and measuring devices.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot formulation or process issues during manufacturing.
  • Work with the Technical Sales Manager to investigate customer complaints and product non-conformities.
  • Identify areas for efficiency improvements and recommend enhancements.
  • Support supplier qualification activities in collaboration with the Purchasing Coordinator.
  • Assist with internal and external audits (e.g., BRC, GMP, ISO, customer audits).
  • Contribute to sustainability initiatives such as clean-label improvements and environmental testing.
  • Respond promptly to quality-related queries from other departments.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Line Manager.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Previous experience in a QC or QA role within food, supplements, pharmaceuticals, or another regulated manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of GMP, quality systems, and SOP-driven environments.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of documentation accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Proactive, organised, and able to thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
Why Apply?
  • Work on behalf of a respected and growing client in the food manufacturing sector.
  • Make a direct impact on the quality, safety, and success of innovative nutritional products.
