Company Overview

Our client is an innovative fintech scale‑up transforming digital payment infrastructure. Following significant growth and investment, they are building out a new Engineering Productivity function focused on accelerating delivery while embedding quality across their platforms.

This is a high‑impact leadership role for an experienced QA professional who wants to shape how quality is approached across teams, processes and technology, rather than sitting solely at feature level.

Role Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a QA Manager or QA Lead to take ownership of quality strategy within a modern, engineering‑led environment. You will be responsible for defining testing standards, guiding QA practices, and working closely with Engineering, DevOps and Product teams to ensure quality is built in from the outset.

While this is not a purely hands‑on testing role, a strong technical background is essential. You will lead by example, influence engineering practices, and help teams scale safely and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and own the overall QA and testing strategy across multiple systems and teams
  • Lead, mentor and support QA engineers, fostering a strong quality culture
  • Establish and maintain test processes, standards and best practices aligned with Agile delivery
  • Oversee functional and non‑functional testing, including regression, integration and performance
  • Collaborate with Engineering and DevOps to strengthen CI/CD pipelines and test automation
  • Influence architectural and delivery decisions to improve quality, reliability and scalability
  • Champion a proactive, prevention‑focused approach to quality across the SDLC
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in a QA Lead or QA Manager role within a software engineering environment
  • Strong background in test engineering, ideally within Java‑based systems
  • Deep understanding of QA methodologies, automation strategies and BDD/TDD practices
  • Experience testing APIs, web applications and backend services
  • Comfortable working closely with engineers, product managers and senior stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and drive change
Desirable Skills
  • Experience working in fintech or other highly regulated environments
  • Exposure to performance and reliability testing tools such as JMeter or K6
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tooling, Linux environments and cloud‑based systems
  • Previous involvement in scaling QA practices within growing teams
