Are you a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) looking to make a meaningful difference within the criminal justice sector?

We are seeking a dedicated and accredited Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team at HMP Hull and HMP York. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a rewarding, full-time permanent position delivering high‑quality mental health care within a prison setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accept and triage referrals in line with service protocols.
  • Conduct person‑centred assessments, including risk assessments.
  • Deliver low‑intensity psychological interventions such as:
    • Guided self‑help and psychoeducational sessions
    • CBT‑informed self‑management approaches
    • Group‑based interventions
  • Support individuals to self‑manage their mental health.
  • Record and monitor clinical outcomes using validated measures.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records on electronic systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to ensure continuous, holistic care.
  • Contribute to performance monitoring and service data collection.
Candidate Requirements
  • Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) with accreditation from the BPS or BABCP.
  • Completion of an accredited IAPT Low Intensity National Programme.
  • Strong knowledge of assessment and stepped‑care models.
  • Post‑qualification experience delivering Step 2 IAPT interventions.
  • Excellent communication and IT skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with supervision and reflect on practice.
  • (Desirable) Experience working in prison or criminal justice settings.
  • (Desirable) Additional therapy modalities such as solution‑focused therapy.
