Job description
Overview

We\'re seeking a hands-on Projects Engineer to lead the design, development, and installation of engineering solutions within a manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Engineering Director, this role combines on-the-ground mechanical work (70%) with project planning and documentation (30%), ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, experience in managing complex engineering projects, and the ability to work effectively across internal teams, suppliers, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead full lifecycle of engineering projects from concept to installation, including machine overhauls and CapEx projects.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and process issues; propose and implement engineering improvements.
  • Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to meet project timelines and compliance standards.
  • Maintain technical documentation, reports, and CAD drawings.
  • Stay up to date with industry innovations, exploring new technologies and processes.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Degree or formal qualification in Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 3+ years\' hands-on mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, AC/DC drives).
  • Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office/Project.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis, 8D, FMEA, and fault-finding techniques.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working under pressure in a dynamic, shop-floor-focused environment.
Desirable
  • Experience in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Statistical Process Control.
Working Hours
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm (early finish Friday at 3:30pm) - 37.5 hours/week.
