Project Portfolio Delivery Lead – London Transport Operator

Hybrid | London (4 days on-site)

Our client, a leading London transport operator, is seeking a Project Portfolio Delivery Lead to oversee and drive a portfolio of high-profile strategic and operational projects. This role is central to delivering organisational value, supporting long-term strategy, and ensuring operational excellence across the business.

Working closely with senior leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners, you’ll lead complex, business-critical programmes in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Please note : Candidates must have experience that includes some construction-related project delivery. Exclusively Technology / Digital backgrounds will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the project portfolio, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities.
  • Prioritise programmes based on impact, risk, and resources.
  • Maintain strong governance and proactively resolve risks and delivery challenges.
  • Serve as the senior link between leadership, project teams, and delivery partners.
  • Drive collaboration, accountability, and high delivery standards.
  • Oversee contractor / vendor performance and ensure value for money.
  • Work with Finance, Operations, and wider teams on resource and budget alignment.
About You
  • 7+ years’ experience as programme / project manager, including construction-related exposure (transport, maritime, infrastructure, etc.).
  • Professional PM accreditation (APM / PMI; PRINCE2 / MSP).
  • Proven track record leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects, managing capital budgets of £5m+.
  • Background in SME / private sector environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder and relationship-building skills; positive and energising approach.
  • People / line management experience.
  • Strong contractor / vendor management capability.Strategic thinker able to convert vision into action.
