Job description
Project Planner/ Planning Engineer – Civil Rail

Salary: £45-£75k+pkg
Location: London
Regions: London, Middlesex, South East, Surrey

A Tier 1 Civil Engineering contractor, with a proven track record for winning work across the UK, is currently seeking a Project Planner to work on a high-profile station redevelopment based in Central London. In the heart of the City, this position is easily commutable from various locations, and the contractor you will be working for has an excellent development structure in place to help the ideal candidate take the next step in their career.

Spec:

  • Build, optimise, and implement appropriate planning and programmes (including resources, outages, consents, and wayleaves)
  • When necessary, produce detailed trackers to be used to collect and report progress made on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Develop a deep understanding of contracts such as NEC and its requirements
  • Work closely with the project team to maximise the potential of each project, attend site meetings when necessary to discuss progress, and update the project plan together with reporting back on any knock-on effects
  • Represent the business at client meetings
  • Work with the Planning Manager to ensure that the planning function interfaces effectively with the other departments
  • Support programme integration, governance, formats, plan optimisation, and planning best practices
  • Gather benchmarking information to aid the Value For Money (VFM) assessment on each project
  • Monitor and control programme compliance in respect of our contractual obligations

Qualifications:

  • HND/Degree level education in a Business/Finance/Engineering/Project Management discipline or equivalent – Essential
  • PTS – Desirable
  • CSCS Card – Desirable
  • 3 years+ Experience including Civil Rail Projects with a Sub/Main Contractor – Essential
  • Progressed from an engineering background (e.g., Site, Section Engineer, or Planning Engineer)
  • Excellent P6 knowledge

It is essential that if you are looking to apply for this role, you have progressed from an engineering background to be considered. Whilst understanding of P6 is also important, the contractor is not looking for a P6 Planner.

You must be eligible to live and work in the UK and be seeking a permanent position in order to be considered for this role.
