Hiring: Software Project Manager

Location: UK & Ireland Remote

About the Role

As our new Software Project Manager within Software Service you’ll have a strong focus on the implementation and installation of JBT Marel projects. You’ll be the project-oriented leader who directs, coordinates and leads a project team from the initial RFP through project initiation until completion. You’ll oversee the total implementation by managing the software project and team from the Statement of Work through resource, finance, quality, risk, delivery and after‑care. You’ll build strong relationships with customers, plan onsite sessions (workshops, kickoff training, etc.), and meet delivery dates using our standard project delivery methodology.

With large deliveries, you’ll work closely with program managers and project managers from other divisions. Your work directly impacts food quality and safety across the industry. If you’re driven by technology innovation and making a global impact, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities
  • Sales Process
    • Review and support validation of complex solution proposals and support pricing of new sales opportunities.
    • Deliver special projects assigned by manager.
    • Support sales on the sale of complex solutions.
    • Follow the project from sales phase through delivery phase.
    • Handle commercial discussions post‑sale with the customer as required, aligned with sales colleagues.
  • Delivery Process
    • Accountable for delivery of Statement of Work per installation project.
    • Accountable for delivery of the Highlight Report for project steering committee meetings.
    • Accountable for all JBT Marel Software project activities and deliverables.
    • Manage hardware aspects as relevant to the project delivery.
    • Adhere to the Marel Software project delivery methodology.
    • Plan project activities with the customer in line with the overall project plan.
    • Build a strong relationship with the customer during the project phase.
    • Achieve project KPIs.
    • Deliver a solution that adds value to the customer and is within scope of the contract.
    • Maintain a list of change requests and communicate to the customer and sales team.
    • Report status of L1/L2 projects to the regional software service manager.
    • Report status of L3 or L1/L2 issue projects to the Project Delivery Board and Regional Software Service Director.
    • Escalate project issues to Regional Software Service Manager / Director.
    • Collaborate with the Manager of the Global Project Delivery Team or local software/hardware teams to ensure adequate staffing for successful delivery.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Hold a university degree or professional qualification in project management (Prince2, IPMA, PMI, PMBOK).
  • Knowledge of principles and processes of project delivery.
  • Experience managing software and electrical project delivery.
    • At least 5 years of experience working in an engineering environment.
    • Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in relevant electrical discipline.
    • Minimum of HNC in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Good English skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willing to travel up to 50 % of your time.
  • Ability to execute tasks and deadlines against project performance criteria (KPIs).
  • Management and motivation of people, gaining commitment from internal colleagues and customers.
  • Organised with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Nice to Have
  • Experience and comfort working in a multicultural, multi‑discipline organization.
  • Food processing knowledge (considered a plus).
  • Basic knowledge of JBT Marel Software products and processes or similar technologies/industries.
  • The ability to maintain a level head under pressure.Profound process change management experience (considered a plus).
