You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.

A little more about your role…

WSP's Roads Northwest business unit is seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary highways, infrastructure, and public realm schemes across the region. You will take full responsibility for managing high-profile projects under the National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework (NH SDF), as well as major local authority programmes, regeneration projects, and wider transport initiatives.

This role represents a significant opportunity for a proven project management professional to lead nationally important schemes, influence strategic client relationships, and play a key role in the growth and performance of one of the UK's most respected consultancies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion a strong culture of health, safety, quality, and sustainability, fully aligned with WSP's guiding principles.
  • Lead and manage the delivery of multi‑disciplinary projects under the NH SDF and other regional frameworks, ensuring robust governance, performance, and client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate design, environmental, commercial, digital, and construction specialists to ensure seamless, integrated project delivery.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage project programmes, budgets, risk registers, and financial forecasts, ensuring projects remain on track and within approved parameters.
  • Lead commercial and financial planning activities, including cost control, early warnings, change management, and performance reporting.
  • Prepare, review, and manage all key project documentation in line with WSP governance and client requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients, stakeholders, and supply‑chain partners, acting as a trusted advisor and key point of contact.
  • Ensure full compliance with NEC4 contract management processes, including communication management, programme acceptance, and compensation‑event administration.
  • Provide leadership across internal and external stakeholder groups, supporting strategic decision‑making and proactively resolving emerging issues.
  • Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice across all projects and teams.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
  • APM PMQ (or equivalent) achieved or in progress; MAPM or chartership is advantageous.
  • Proven experience leading multi‑disciplinary infrastructure and/or public‑realm schemes, ideally within highways or transportation.
  • Strong understanding of commercial, financial, and contract management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Robust working knowledge of NEC4 contracts, with hands‑on experience delivering projects within an NEC environment.
  • Competent user of Microsoft 365 and MS Project; experience with Primavera P6 is desirable. Confident in the use of a range of AI tools including MS Copilot.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage complex stakeholder environments.
  • A proactive, solution‑focused mindset with the ability to think critically, manage competing priorities, and lead teams to successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive project performance, manage risks, and deliver high‑quality outputs.
