Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the UK is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee multidisciplinary projects in nuclear energy. The ideal candidate has over 10 years of experience and a strong background in Mechanical engineering. You will coordinate project activities, manage resources, and ensure timely delivery within budget. A PMP and/or MAPM qualification is essential for success in this role.

We are seeking highly experienced Project Managers with a comprehensive understanding of all engineering disciplines, especially Mechanical, to join a renowned international designer and supplier in nuclear energy.

In this role, you will collaborate to develop project definitions and ensure each project is delivered on time, within budget, and with effective resource management. You will manage relationships with various groups and report directly to the Operations Director. Additionally, you will oversee the work of consultants, allocate resources efficiently, and help develop a dedicated project team as the business expands.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with partners, including customers and partner companies, and manage working groups involved in project activities.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, manage all deliverables, set priorities for engineering teams, record and escalate issues, resolve cross-functional problems, and monitor project performance while reporting progress to the Operations Director.
  • Communicate with the project board (MD, FD, Engineering Director, Operations Manager) providing necessary updates.
  • Oversee project evaluation and dissemination activities.
  • Manage consultancy input within the allocated budget.
  • Work closely with end-users to ensure the project aligns with business needs.

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of experience managing multiple multidisciplinary projects, typically valued at £50K or more.
  • Strong understanding of all engineering disciplines, with an emphasis on Mechanical.
  • Qualified to MAPM and/or PMP standards.
  • Proficient in MS Project.
  • Excellent issue management and resolution skills, both internally and externally.
