A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Project Engineer to oversee mechanical systems in wastewater treatment projects in the UK. The role requires a Mechanical Engineering qualification, wastewater experience, and strong coordination skills. You will manage technical aspects from design to commissioning while liaising with various teams and ensuring solutions meet safety and cost requirements. This position offers a hybrid work model, with a preference for permanent hires but contractors are also considered.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience delivering mechanical systems on wastewater projects.
• Wastewater treatment plant experience essential.
• Strong technical coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a contractor-side delivery environment.

Responsibilities

• Technical ownership of mechanical engineering packages.
• Coordination across mechanical, civil, process and EICA disciplines.
• Supporting projects through design, construction and commissioning.
• Liaison with suppliers, subcontractors and internal delivery teams.
• Ensuring engineering solutions meet safety, cost and programme requirements.
• Identifying and recommending engineering improvements.
