Project Engineer

Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 39 Hours per Week

Our client are one of the UK's leading structural steel engineering contractors, delivering complex, high-profile projects across the commercial, industrial, infrastructure, stadia, transport and energy sectors.

As they continue to grow and deliver technically challenging projects nationwide, we are looking to appoint a talented Project Engineer to join their team.

The Role

The Project Engineer will support the successful technical and commercial delivery of structural steel projects from contract award through to completion.

Working closely with the Project Manager and wider project team, you will coordinate engineering, design, procurement and site activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

You will play a key role in managing project interfaces, resolving technical challenges and maintaining strong communication with clients, main contractors and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the management of projects in line with contractual obligations and company procedures
  • Coordinating technical delivery between design, detailing, fabrication and site teams
  • Monitoring programme milestones and assisting with programme management
  • Ensuring compliance with SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) standards at all stages of the project
  • Supporting quality control processes and ensuring adherence to project specifications
  • Assisting with cost control, change management and budget monitoring
  • Coordinating procurement of bought-out items and subcontract packages
  • Managing drawing reviews and technical approvals
  • Liaising with clients, main contractors, consultants and internal departments
  • Identifying risks and supporting mitigation strategies
  • Reporting progress, risks and key issues to the Project Manager and senior management
Key Skills & Experience
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or Construction Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Experience within the structural steel industry or wider construction sector
  • Strong technical understanding of structural steel design, fabrication and erection processes
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of construction contracts
  • Experience in a Project Engineer or similar role within structural steel would be advantageous
