Job Title : Production Engineer

Location : Nasmyth Ferndown, 78-82 Cobham Road, Ferndown Industrial Estate, Wimborne, Dorset, BH21 7RW

Job type : Permanent

Salary : £42,000 dependent on experience

Hours per week : 39 hours a week

Start & finish times : Monday to Thursday 7.15am – 4.15pm Friday 7.15am – 12.15pm

Nasmyth is a leading supplier to the aviation industry, manufacturing everything from airframe assemblies to engines. We also specialise in instrumentation components for commercial airliners, business jets, military aircraft, helicopters and much more.

Summary of role :

We are looking for a results‑orientated manufacturing professional with strong technical knowledge of modern manufacturing methods, machine tools, and CAD / CAM systems to drive continuous improvement and challenge existing ways of working. The role will champion lean initiatives, support production and new product introduction, and ensure effective management of lead times, WIP, and inventory in line with materials management best practices. Strong leadership, the ability to work at all levels, good Microsoft Office skills, and a commitment to health and safety are essential, with aerospace industry experience desirable but not essential. Key Responsibilities :
  • Ensure that continuous improvement is driven through the business & that this becomes embedded as part of the day‑to‑day culture
  • Ability to embed any new method of manufacturing to deliver sustainable benefits to the business
  • Prepare and maintain accurate engineering documentation, including bill of materials (BOM), technical specifications, and CAD files.
  • Utilize CAD software such as Inventor, Catia, Radan, or similar to develop models and drawings
  • Establish and maintain system policies associated with lead times for product
  • Ensure WIP is managed to meet all business requirements
  • Support manufacturing activities both internally & externally
  • Focal point for ensuring production & new product is completed as required
  • Participate & lead lean initiatives
  • Support inventory policies to include, FIFO inventory, returnable containers, WIP reduction
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety, ensuring guidelines are followed in accordance with the Company Health & Safety policy and legislative requirements.
  • Work in accordance with the company's policies and goals in order to ensure achievement of company goals and objectives.
  • Any other duties that may reasonably be required by the Company from time to time.
