The incumbent occupying the Production Electronic Engineer post within the Production Department is responsible for Test, Repair and Debug of the full range of the Company’s supported products with PCB level debug experience. Testing/repairing the full range of Vicon Products and assisting hardware and software (where necessary) to ensure proper testing, alignment and operation of Vicon Products.
The Production Electronic Engineer reports to the Production Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise Test team with technical and observational support during all periods.
- To ensure ongoing quality of product into stock via final test: ensuring units are tested to latest version, analysing final test report, visual inspection of units and correct set-up of lenses.
- Diagnosing faults in Vicon product assemblies and sub-assemblies to component level and managing the repair/replacement either by returning the item to the manufacturer via the Stock Manager or correcting the fault in-house. Debugging PCB failures in a timely manner.
- Maintaining the Camera test facilities and ensuring that they are working to specification by routinely performing and documenting control tests/raising tickets where necessary.
- Writing test specifications and instructions where necessary for Vicon Products, ensuring documentation is kept up to date on Vicon MDR and QMS.
- Generate reports (as necessary) to convey detail on investigations, tests, observations and conclusions to management/development (as appropriate)
- Maintain the repair process with a view to gaining maximum information by feedback of faults/root causes identified to improve on-going quality and prevent recurrence.
- Management of the RMA system (monitor receipts, prioritise and ensure timely turnaround/repair).
- Provide technical advice to the Production Manager, Quality Manager, Supply chain and Stock Manager, as well as Supplier Visits as required.
- Contribute as a core member of new product teams to ensure DFM and DFT practices are considered and to provide smooth transition from prototype to production
- Liaise with PM reference the improvement of existing operations, incorporation of new methods and processes where needed.
- In conjunction with Engineering, Design Engineer, Realisation Engineer and Production Manager:
- Be actively involved with the design of test for prototype/production products.
- Assist in the development of testing protocols for new products.
- Assist in the risk prevention/design improvement process by actively feeding back observations from the prototype/current build and testing methods.
- Assist with the on-going improvement of current/new product with input into the design of tools/jigs/gauges.
- To assist in other areas where necessary to meet business needs e.g. production assembly, final test, kit verification and stock counts.
- To keep working area organised and tidy (ensure all stock that is not consumed is returned to the correct stock location and tools are returned to their correct storage location at the end of the shift)
- To participate in training activities for flexible working
Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Ideally to hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering or have equivalent experience in production engineering with 5+ years experience
- Able to read schematics an advantage. (Or CAD and Altium preferred).
- Board level test and debug experience essential, with SMT and through hole rework experience.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Enthusiastic and committed to the goals of the Company.

- Exhibit good written and verbal communications skills, produce reports when necessary.
