Product Manager - Mortgages

Salary: Competitive

Hours: Full time - 35 hours

Contract: Permanent

Location : Hybrid Working (Head Office, West Bromwich)

The West Brom are looking to recruit a Product Manager (Mortgages) to join our Products team. The post holder will be supporting the Head of Products to deliver the Society’s mortgage plans, the principal emphasis of the role is to manage the overall performance of our mortgage product ranges.

The core focus of the role is to ensure our range of mortgage products for both new and existing customers is delivering in line with agreed plans across a range of key performance metrics, in support of our home ownership purpose. You will monitor, manage and recommend pricing changes to mortgage products to senior stakeholders. Supported by a team of product analysts, the role involves researching, identifying and developing mortgage related product opportunities, for all channels, ensuring that products deliver our purpose and good outcomes for customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Key accountability for the delivery of the Society’s mortgage plans for new and existing customers.
  • Collate and analyse performance on individual product lines, new business and total portfolio against agreed metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to ensure individual products / product lines deliver against agreed performance metrics (volume, contribution and risk) and make recommendations to Committee.
  • Ensure that products deliver good customer outcomes through the product lifecycle and are managed in line with associated frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of annual and 5-year lending plans.
  • Maintain an in-depth and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the mortgage market, as well as wider market considerations, in order to develop new products and mortgage related initiatives.
  • Act as spokesperson and industry expert for the Society on mortgages and an active participant in industry body meetings.
  • Produce weekly / monthly monitoring and performance reports for key stakeholders.
Skills and Experience Required
  • A detailed knowledge of both the UK mortgage market.
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to handle complex mathematical modelling including pricing.
  • A clear understanding of the relevant regulations and legal frameworks.
  • A high level of competency across all Microsoft Office software with Excel being a key focus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and an influential negotiator with the ability to tailor communication to a wide range of audiences including the Head of Products, C-suite and Executive Directors.
  • Ability to communicate complex subject matters in a simple way to a wide range of audiences (internal and external).
  • Excellent organisational, time management and prioritisation skills with the capability to manage complex projects simultaneously to tight deadlines.
  • Contribute to the department meeting the requirements of the Society’s Risk Framework by:
    • o Escalating up the line any risks identified;
    • o Reporting any Risk Events to Operational Risk and the Head of Products;
    • o Ensuring all controls within the department are effective and in line with procedure.
