A cutting-edge health tech company in London is seeking Product Designers who can lead design initiatives and contribute to improving healthcare delivery. Candidates should possess high-sigma product intuition, a meticulous eye for detail, and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities include leading design for new opportunities, collaborating with key customers for feedback, and shaping the product roadmap to ensure user-centric solutions. Joining this team means making a substantial impact on patient care.
Hey! Shun here, I’m the CEO and co-founder of Anima. Our mission is to deliver precision medicine to everyone in the world in under 24 hours.
My entire life, I’ve been pulling on a thread that’s affected all of us in some way. Millions die every year because their medical problems aren’t treated quickly enough. Hundreds of millions suffer pain, worry and discomfort needlessly because of long waiting times. I trained as a doctor in the NHS and quit out of frustration at seeing countless cases of people dying because they got misdiagnosed or didn’t get the right care plan.
Seeing the problem space at all abstraction levels, including as a doctor and at the HM Treasury, convinced me that the only way to fix healthcare was to build a ‘Care Enablement’ platform that can automate and abstract away work at the clinic, and effectively 10x’ing the capacity of doctors. Doing so would also be the path to a superhuman personalised medicine agent that could go well beyond humans, crunching tens of thousands of low level features at genome and transcriptome level.
At Anima, you’ll help us extend the 3 existing product lines we have, that millions of patients use, and build out new ones at the very cutting edge of healthcare reinforcement learning and agentic AI. Your work will save countless lives.
Our NPS is 87, we’ve never churned a practice, and we’re growing very efficiently — we’re profitable with infinite runway.
We got here by being a design-led company. User experience is at the centre of everything we do and is part our DNA; Rachel, co-founder and COO, designed all our first products.
Hi, I’m Shun, a medical doctor and CEO of Anima. Thank you for checking out this job! We’re tackling a hugely important problem that has affected everyone in some way.
Globally, millions of people die every year because their medical problems aren’t treated quickly enough. Hundreds of millions suffer pain, worry, and discomfort needlessly because of long waiting times.
We’ve built ambitious software to automate the entire healthcare workflow — from history taking consultations, to report abstraction, to recommending and saving a coded action plan for patients, ready for a human doctor to green light.
By doing this, we get patients optimal care within 24 hours and 10x the clinical workflow in the process.
We are pretty unique among health techs in that we have both medical and engineering expertise. I wrote the first backend in Node. And as a doctor and former HM Treasury health policy advisor managing £4bn budgets in UK health spending, I have full stack domain knowledge and personal experience of the problem we’re solving.
We are technology agonistic, and collectively choose the best tools for the job. We’re constantly looking to maximise our productivity and minimise what we call “discounted cost” for shipping product.
We believe code serves the user experience. Ideally proprietary user experiences that customers are willing to pay a lot for.
We have two separate web applications: one for clinical users and one for patients. You’ll work across both.
We’re looking for two to three Product Designers who are exceptional individual contributors who can think from first principles and have high growth potential.
Does this sound like you? 👇
Hungry and wants to change the world; understands the urgency and importance of what we’re doing for society
Bored and frustrated by big companies; feels held back by red tape, bureaucracy, endless meetings, and poor decisions
Eager to understand the big picture; the context of the company and the entire vertical
Empathic with high-sigma product intuition; able to intuit a user’s situation, motivation, and desired outcome (even with minimal research), and translate these into optimal interactions and interfaces
Meticulous with an eye for aesthetics; recognises the importance of details when shipping products that are used every single day and by millions of people
An excellent communicator; creates clarity and energy when sharing work with the team or customers
Comfortable prioritising and working iteratively; guided by user feedback, data, and company goals
Intellectually curious; able to tackle novel challenges that lack prior precedent
Driven to maximise productivity; not only self productivity, but team productivity
Familiar with frontend development; appreciates the building blocks of web applications and how these come together
Proficient in Figma
Examples of what you can expect to be doing include:
Leading design for multiple new opportunities, from beginning to end. We’re currently exploring how we might: manage clinical correspondence and documents; automate the treatment of patients, and integrate with the NHS application.
Improving our existing, flagship features to maximise the affected user-minutes. For example, how might we make it faster for our clinical users to send appointment invitations to patients? This path can be traversed by clinical users hundreds of times a day.
Collaborating with customers via Anima Champions — an exclusive community for our most fanatical customers to share feedback on what we’re working on now and to influence what we work on next. In addition, joining customer calls and visiting them at their place of work to develop a deep understanding of their problems, wants, and needs.
Shaping the roadmap and ensuring that we prioritise and build products that lead to the highest total network value deltas. We don’t have Product Managers (and we may never), so both thinking and execution will be required.
Implementing the right processes at the right times to maximise discounted team productivity. Including (but not limited to) formalising our design standards and scaling our design tools so we keep shipping features that result in a high retention delta.
