Job summary

A leading technology company in the United Kingdom is looking for a Process Engineering Expert to lead the optimization of InP wafer processing methods. Candidates should possess a Ph.D. and over 15 years of hands-on experience in semiconductor wafer processing, especially with III-V materials. This full-time, permanent role requires proficiency in statistical process control and communication skills. Onsite working in Suffolk is required. Additional mentoring of junior engineers is expected.

Job Title: Process Engineering Expert - III-V

Location: Suffolk, UK - onsite working required

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and optimization of InP wafer processing methods, including epitaxy, photolithography, deposition, etching, and metrology.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure effective integration of fabrication processes into device manufacturing.
  • Design and implement Design of Experiments (DOE) to enhance yield, reproducibility, and device performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical process issues to ensure consistent quality and minimal downtime.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians, promoting continuous development and knowledge sharing.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Document process flows and work instructions, ensuring compliance with quality and safety protocols.
  • Communicate findings and process insights effectively to internal stakeholders and management.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
  • Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Over 15 years of hands‑on experience in semiconductor wafer processing, with a focus on III‑V materials (e.g., InP, GaAs).
  • In‑depth knowledge of photonics fabrication processes and equipment.
  • Proficiency in statistical process control and data analysis.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in semiconductor manufacturing.
