Job summary

VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join the Legal & Compliance Team. You will advise on UK data protection laws, support the DPO, and oversee data breach management and regulatory engagement.

You will liaise with stakeholders across the business, drive continuous improvement, and ensure robust responses to regulatory inquiries while maintaining privacy and compliance across operations.

Qualifications

• Proven data protection advisory experience within Compliance and/or Legal functions.
• Excellent understanding of ICO guidance, codes and regulatory expectations.
• Ability to manage complex and time-sensitive workloads with precision and professionalism.
• Skilled at researching, analyzing and interpreting complex regulatory information.
• Comfortable challenging views and interpreting regulatory guidance with accuracy.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Maintain Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead the assessment, oversight and reporting of personal data breaches and MI reporting.
• Act as a main contact for DSARs, complaints and litigation matters.
• Drive second-line monitoring to ensure compliance and improvements.
