Prison Nurse – Manchester

Location: Manchester (or nearby Greater Manchester sites)
Rate: £30‑35 per hour (depending on shift type and experience)
Contract: 6 months (with potential extension)
Hours: Full‑time or part‑time considered (Early, Late, Long Day, and Night shifts available)

We're recruiting experienced Registered Nurses (RGN or RMN) to support healthcare services within the prison estate in Manchester. This is a unique and rewarding role for nurses who are confident working independently and thrive in a fast‑paced, secure environment.

Duties include:
  • Providing nursing care to individuals with a wide range of physical health, substance misuse, and mental health needs
  • Administering medications, wound care, and supporting ongoing treatment plans
  • Responding to medical emergencies and managing complex care needs on site
  • Collaborating with a multi‑disciplinary team including prison staff, GPs, and mental health professionals
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring care is delivered safely and in line with clinical governance standards
What we're looking for:
  • NMC‑registered Nurse (RGN, RMN or dual‑qualified)
  • Previous experience in custodial, secure, A&E, or community settings (prison experience desirable)
  • Prison clearance (CTC or enhanced DBS with prison vetting) preferred – support available for new applications
  • Confident, resilient, and adaptable approach to care
  • Availability for a minimum of 2 shifts per week
