Job description

Principle Design Engineer

Location: Oldham, Manchester (Onsite only)

Salary: £65,000‑£75,000 (benefits)

Hours: Mon‑Thu 07:45‑16:45; Fri 07:45‑13:45 (38hrs/week)

Start Date: Ideally early December, January also considered

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading and mentoring a small team of 3 engineers (soon to be 4), including a junior engineer
• Reviewing and improving existing designs across a wide range of mechanical products
• Supporting the transition from design to production and manufacturing
• Getting involved in all aspects of the design lifecycle from concept to productionisation
• Working onsite full-time in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment

What We're Looking For

• 5 years of mechanical design experience, ideally in a regulated or precision engineering environment
• Strong 3‑D CAD skills (SolidEdge preferred but not essential)
• Some leadership or mentoring experience, managing experienced and junior engineers
• British national with a valid British passport (due to export/trade restrictions)
• Within 1 hour commute of Oldham
• No hybrid or remote working available

Nice to Have

• CFD experience (FLOEFD)
• Familiarity with GD&T principles
• Experience in bespoke or low‑to‑mid volume manufacturing (200‑250 units/week)
• Exposure to flow performance evaluation or similar analysis tools
