Overview

Principal Temporary Works Design Engineer | Hillsborough

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading civil engineering and construction group who deliver some of the UK and Ireland's most complex infrastructure projects. As part of their ongoing growth, they are seeking a Principal Temporary Works Design Engineer to join their team in Hillsborough. This is a key technical role where you will lead the development and delivery of temporary works solutions, with a particular focus on geotechnical and ground engineering challenges, supporting large scale civil engineering and building projects across the UK and Ireland.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the design and checking of temporary works solutions across a wide variety of infrastructure and building projects
  • Providing technical leadership in geotechnical temporary works, including earthworks support, retaining structures, foundations and stability assessments
  • Coordinating with project delivery teams to ensure practical, safe and efficient designs that meet site requirements
  • Managing temporary works registers and ensuring compliance with company and industry standards
  • Liaising with clients, project managers, subcontractors and regulators on all matters relating to temporary works
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers to build capability within the team
Qualifications
  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with Chartered status (ICE or IStructE)
  • Significant consultancy or contractor experience in temporary works design
  • Expertise in geotechnical temporary works including excavation support, piling platforms, slope stability and ground movement assessments
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant design codes and temporary works procedures
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage stakeholders and mentor junior staff
  • The ability to deliver safe, practical and buildable solutions under time and budget pressures
