Job Title: Principal Civil Engineer

This is the ideal opportunity to join my client, a well-established, expanding Multidisciplinary Consultancy as they expand their country-wide, renowned for their expertise across the landscape architecture, planning, and civil engineering landscapes. They are searching for a keen, capable Principal Civil Engineer with extensive skills within infrastructure design, willing to take on a variety of challenging projects and leading a growing team in a new location, based near the lively, modern city of Glasgow.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the design of a wide array of engineering developments
  • Managing the day-to-day running of projects, including financing, resourcing, scheduling, and delivering
  • Mentoring and supporting colleagues within their respective roles, encouraging and overseeing their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) at the company
  • Managing and supporting clients and other stakeholders across the public and private sectors
  • Preparing, checking, and submitting technical reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, method statements, and other documents
  • Upholding company policies, procedures, and best practice, upholding the appropriate health and safety standards at all times
  • Contributing to the company\'s business development and growth, acting as a representative at client meetings, site visits, etc.
Required skills and experience
  • A Bachelor\'s or Master\'s Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering
  • Possess Chartered Status
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a design role, within a UK-based consultancy setting
  • Extensive experience of working with infrastructure (drainage and highways), housing developments, and energy projects
  • Experience of earthworks and drainage network modelling
  • Highly proficient in the use of various software packages, including Civils 3D, InfoDrainage/MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Demonstrable experience of writing, correcting, and amending a variety of reports
  • Experience of managing projects and people
  • Considerable experience of managing client and stakeholder relations
  • Outstanding organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Hold a full, valid UK driving licence
Desirable skills and experience
  • Previous experience of producing Flood Risk Assessments
  • Some experience of preparing Transport Assessments
  • Experience of working in a public-facing role
