Principal Civil Engineer - Leeds

Leading UK Infrastructure & Built-Environment Projects

A well-established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join its expanding team in Leeds. This organisation delivers major, transformational programmes across the UK and internationally, supporting projects within sectors such as aviation, defence, energy, water, education, and urban development. In this role, you'll be joining a collaborative, inclusive environment where technical excellence is at the heart of every project. You will play a key part in shaping high-profile infrastructure schemes from concept through to delivery, working closely with national and international teams.

The Role

As Principal Civil Engineer, you will:

  • Lead and mentor a team delivering high-quality civil engineering design across a range of complex projects.
  • Develop technical briefs, scopes of work and support bid and proposal activity.
  • Manage project programmes, budgets and resources, ensuring work is delivered to key milestones.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across various offices to produce integrated, technically robust solutions.
  • Uphold quality assurance processes and compliance with relevant design codes and standards.
About You
  • Chartered Civil Engineer (or equivalent).
  • Strong background in leading project design delivery, ideally within multidisciplinary environments.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of external works design, including utilities, earthworks, paved/unpaved surfaces, access, accessibility and construction logistics.
  • Proficient in digital design and analysis tools such as MicroDrainage, InfoWater, Causeway Flow, InfoWorks or similar, with a solid understanding of current UK standards and best practice.
