A healthcare provider in Dunstable is seeking a Practitioner Psychologist to join their team dedicated to improving access to effective treatment for those with complex emotional needs. The role involves contributing to a psychologically safe environment, providing specialist supervision and training, and actively engaging in collaborative projects. Ideal candidates will have completed accredited MBT training, though newly qualified Psychologists may be considered under a preceptorship. The position supports professional development within 18 months to 2 years in an inclusive environment.
The Bedfordshire and Luton Complex Needs Service is excited to offer a Practitioner Psychologist the opportunity to join our supportive team in working towards improving access to evidence‑based treatment for people with complex emotional needs (associated with a diagnosis of ‘personality disorder’). The ideal candidate would have completed an accredited Mentalization‑Based Treatment (MBT) training, and would have experience supervising others. However, the service would be willing to consider appointing a newly qualified Psychologist at Band 7 under a preceptorship that would enable them to work toward meeting the essential criteria for an 8a position within an 18 month - 2 year period (subject to satisfactory completion of the preceptorship process). This programme of development would include undertaking an accredited training in MBT.
The successful candidate will be committed to working collaboratively with service users, carers, and colleagues to create a psychologically safe environment that enables the delivery of effective treatment. The post holder will be required to actively participate in weekly team consultation meetings, and will offer specialist advice, supervision, training, and consultation to other professionals and teams to support effective and efficient psychologically‑informed care and treatment across Bedfordshire and Luton. We would particularly welcome interest from candidates who are committed to co‑producing the development of the care pathway through participation in clinical research, audit and/or quality improvement projects.
Our mission is to make a positive difference to people’s lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
