The Practice Nurse will play a key role in the delivery of nursing services to the practice population, working closely with GPs, healthcare assistants, and other allied health professionals. The role is varied and patient-focused, with scope to develop special interests in line with the nurse’s experience and the needs of the practice.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivery of chronic disease management, including asthma, COPD, diabetes, and hypertension
Cervical cytology and women’s health services
Childhood and adult immunisations and vaccinations
Health promotion, lifestyle advice, and patient education
Wound care, dressings, and minor injury management
Travel health assessments and vaccinations (where trained)
Infection prevention and control and cold chain management
Supporting QOF and enhanced services
Participation in audits, clinical meetings, and service development
Well-organised and supportive general practice

Strong emphasis on patient care, quality, and continuity

The successful candidate will be:
A Registered Nurse (NMC) with experience in primary care or community nursing
Competent in chronic disease management and routine practice nursing duties
Cytology trained (desirable) or willing to undertake training
Confident, organised, and patient-centred
A strong team player with excellent communication skills
Committed to ongoing professional development
