PPA / Intervention Teacher Primary ASD Base, Lambeth
Full-Time | Immediate Start | Long-Term Opportunity

We are working with a warm, inclusive primary school in Lambeth with a well-established ASD resource base, seeking a compassionate and adaptable PPA/Intervention Teacher to join their specialist team. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about SEND and committed to supporting neurodiverse learners.

About the Role:

The role will involve a balance of delivering pre-planned lessons within the ASD base and leading targeted intervention groups to support pupils’ communication, social development and academic progress. You will work closely with experienced teaching assistants, speech and language therapists and the SENDCo to ensure every child receives a personalised, nurturing and structured learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engaging and structured lessons within the ASD base
  • Teach small groups and occasionally whole classes of pupils with ASD
  • Lead personalised interventions (communication, phonics, sensory regulation, social skills)
  • Adapt resources, visuals and activities to meet pupils’ individual needs
  • Implement strategies such as PECs, visuals, Makaton, TEACCH and sensory approaches (experience beneficial but not essential)
  • Collaborate with the SENDCo, therapists and support staff to track progress and plan next steps
  • Create a calm, safe and predictable learning environment
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and families
Requirements:
  • QTS (Primary preferred)
  • Strong understanding of autism and experience working in SEND or inclusive settings
  • Confident adapting lessons to different ability levels
  • Excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Patience, empathy and a highly nurturing approach
  • Willingness to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
