Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Pevensey. The role involves delivering letters and parcels, working outdoors in all weather, and building strong relationships with customers. The position is a fixed-term contract for 6 months with rotating shifts and weekend work.

You will have a full manual UK driving licence, be physically fit for long walks and lifting, and pass a driving assessment. Training, a uniform, and a trusted van are provided.

Location: Westham Delivery Office, BN24 5NA

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour * (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37.00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 7:49/16:29* (Sunday - 9am - 4pm)

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)


• Driving a Royal Mail van daily


• Working in all weather conditions


• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels


• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)


• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment


• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
